The Michigan greenstones in this pair of earrings came from an old collection actually found on Isle Royale years ago, when it was legal to collect there. They are very good chatoyant matches. The gemstones are approximately 11-13mm long and 7mm wide, on sterling ear posts. Not an exact match, each stone has its own character. These earrings come with generous 8mm backs, meaning they are easy to handle and easy to find if dropped! Isle Royale Greenstone earrings are a great gift. Large stones for a good price.
The Isle Royale greenstone is the state gem of Michigan, and is found only in a few locations in the Keweenaw Peninsula and on Isle Royale National Park. Nice speckled patterns make a these a wonderful gift. The earrings have heirloom value as well since this stone is more rare than diamonds!
