More info

The Yowah Opal field is situated about 600 miles west of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia . This Yowah field is only about 2 ½ square miles. “Yawah Nuts” are a most colorful and striking matrix opal.
Yowah opal's have become world renowned for their beautiful pictures within the gemstone.
Electric greens and blues are the primary colors that are encased in ironstone (hemitite), hence the name “Yawah Nut” (kernal of crystal). Bits of purple intrude. These opals are considered to be some of the finest gemstones found because of their picture-like patterns and colors.
I was inspired by this opal to create an elegant, designer shaped pendant in 14/20 goldfill wire. I was careful not to overwhelm the stone with my wire wrapping. This opal was one of the best examples of a “Yawah Nut” opal at the entire Tucson Gem Shows. Hard bargaining on my part brings you a great bargain for this fabulous stone. You will LOVE it!
