When you buy old rock and mineral collections, you never know what you might find.  A few years back I bought a collection of fossils and shells, hauled items home, sorted out the rocks and minerals from the shells.  The shells got set aside for some years, until one of Bonnie’s “cleaning” actions took place in the barn.  We discovered this interesting plate of Calcereous Worm Tubes.  The worms that made the tubes are most prevalent on the Northwest Coast.  It was obvious that this plate of shell was tumbled smooth by the oceans tumbling action.

You will like the varied pattern that the tubes make and the pink color in the fossils.  Normally these worms build their tubes on oysters or other solid flat surfaces, or even hub caps.  The rear still has a small section of oyster shell imbedded within the tubes. It is wrapped in argentium silver and pink gold with a detailed and precise wire wrap due to the unusual shape.

If you are a shell or aquatic animal lover and want something no one else has, you can enjoy telling about this unusual specimen. This piece is not for everyone, but if you really enjoy the unusual or odd material for jewelry, this will really make your day!
