More info

The finest colorations of Datolite have always been found at the Quincy/Mesnard/Franklin mines at the top of Quincy Hill.  Although started as separate mines they were eventually all connected.  This is an exceptionally fine Franklin Datolite ablaze with copper.  The highly polished pink pastel in the stone is from micro copper bits within the Datolite. Datolites come from some of the copper mine piles in the Keweenaw Peninsula of Upper Michigan. Colors are usually white or pink, this treasure of pink and lots of copper is unusual.

I’ve had this piece of Datolite for a decade and and recently was moved to work with this.  The pendant features an elegant wire wrapped of 14/20 gold fill and pink gold which reflects the copper in the gemstone.  Not much Datolite of this caliber is around these days. Even at rock shows in the Keweenaw you rarely see much colorful or coppery Datolite.  This is very beautiful piece with a super fancy top, but is so nice you may wish to wear it every day.

If you have ever enjoyed the Copper Country this would be a great way to recall happy times there.  A great gift for someone special!
