DATOLITE
The Copper Country of Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula is renown for the variety of gemstones. Datolite is an associate mineral of copper and is found in many of the old copper mines. White is a common Datolite color found at virtually every mine, while other colors may be specific to a certain mine. The unique way that Datolite filled the voids in copper and bubbly basalt is special in the Copper District. Other inclusions besides copper can also be found on occasion in Datolite.
