The Michigan greenstones in this pair of earrings came from an old collection actually found on Isle Royale years ago, when it was legal to collect there. They are a charming pale sage green and finely speckled. The gemstones are approximately 3/8" across, on sterling ear posts. This medium-weight sterling silver ear nut features a textured face that helps prevent earrings from turning when worn. The wings on the back of the ear nut are longer, helping to hold posts more securely. Isle Royale Greenstone earrings are a great gift.
The Isle Royale greenstone is the state gem of Michigan, and is found only in a few locations in the Keweenaw Peninsula and on Isle Royale National Park. Rare color and fine speckled patterns make a these a wonderful gift. The earrings have heirloom value as well since this stone is more rare than diamonds!
