Ammonites sometimes come coated with Pyrite. Famous ones come from Germany and New York State. I was told this one is a New York Specimen. It looks as though someone took an ordinary Ammonite and misted it with gold. These look heavy, but are not. I like the negative impressions of these, with spectacular detail. I wrapped this one with 14/20 rolled gold, and topped it with a snail-like twist. This will be a real conversation piece.
