A medium-sized copper agate shows a bright copper swirling skirt. A gold and pink gold wire setting encases this little beauty--a unique gem jewelry from Michigan Copper Country in the Keweenaw Peninsula.

You never know when you cut one of these agates what it might look like. Sometimes you get a little copper, and often it is mostly around the edge. A Copper Agate with lots of copper is not common. This one has lots of copper and only enough agate to give it a nice contrast. Wrapped in gold and pink gold square wires, it looks like a young gal swirling around to see how far out her copper skirt will go!
The reverse side of the pendant was left unpolished, a demonstration of how plain (ugly?) the agates look when they are found in the poor rock piles near Calumet Michigan. This one has a divot which makes it seem especially unpromising. The green on this untouched back is chlorite, a mineral that seals most of these nodules and makes it impossible to predict what beauty might be underneath. Copper does show on the back bottom. This face of this agate is made tarnish resistant by a proprietary sealing method which seals the copper appearance.
