Wait until you see the ones I'm working on with the silver-copper halfbreeds. I have about six new ones ready to go soon. I will post some on the website when they are done.

Diamonds are always nice, but very common unless they are colored blue, green, or red. Diamonds can also be quite pricey if they are exceptionally large and flawless, although laser treatments can knock out the carbon inclusions that were visible years ago without treatments. These treatments will upgrade the stone's rating. Diamonds are overpriced with control of pricing and advertising in the hands of one major company. This marketing is the main reason diamonds are PERCEIVED to be priceless. In general diamonds are not priceless unless they meet my aforementioned criteria, but you are correct in that they are expensive for what you get.

Think of one big mall-
Think of how many jewelry stores in that mall-
Think of how many diamonds in each store-
Think of all the malls using the same criteria-
Add the local jewelry stores, online stores, and department stores that sell diamonds-
This would prove to most anyone my point.

There are uncounted numbers of diamonds about, but an unusual agate or Isle Royale Greenstone are very rare and command a lesser price. Try to find a greenstone in the jewelry store.

IF I were to invest is jewelry store gems I would buy a natural Ruby or Emerald over a diamond any day.
There are many, many, posts on the internet about the commonality of diamonds. Having said that, I find diamonds quite attractive, but am disappointed that buyers are getting ripped off by buying them for the most part.

I can see a trend away from diamonds and more toward the rare, unusual, or one of a kind type gemstones. Not everyone wants what everyone else has, and in our business we specialize in what nobody else has.

Thank you for sharing this great diary. I have been wanting to go to the Az Gem show since I found out about it and being able to read about your experience is a nice way to see what it is like.

Have fun!
